Been spending a lot of time chasing wildlife in the Marin Headlands and Point Reyes National Seashore in California.
I recently lost my mom to Pancreatic cancer, so I have been using Nature therapy to recover from the loss. Since the San Francisco Bay area has many areas where wildlife live and call home, I have been tracking them and photographing them. I was lucky to spot this Bobcat in the Marin headlands. Their scientific name is Lynx Rufus. You can tell the difference between Bobcat’s and domestic cats by the Bobcat’s tail.

Hi Dina, Great photos of the bobcat! i love them! i also can relate to nature therapy to help with grief. I do think being close to wildlife and the outdoors is powerful and can be calming and enlightening.
I wonder if you could share where you say this bobcat. I spend a lot of time in the headlands and have seen one a few times at dusk but never during the day. where you hiking, or did you stop and wait? I see a ton of foxes out there, but again always at dusk or night, not during the day.
Keep up the great photography!

Thank you for reading my blog, and looking at my pics.
This particular Bobcat I have seen 3 times. I usually have to wait. It seems they like 3 ish is one of their feeding times. But you may not get a sighting if other people are around. They are very skittish. The area is at the end of Conzelman road towards the lighthouse. There is a dirt parking lot just past the gate at the end of Conzelman Road. In the cliffy and grassy area facing the bridge is where I have seen it. I hope that makes sense.
I have also seen them under those warehouse looking buildings on the road that goes past the missile compound.

Hi, Thanks for the additional details. We’ve since seen a couple of bobcts at point reyes. One at the bay view trailhead on the road to limantour beach and one while driving Down pierce point road. They’re tearing up big chunks of the headlands and it seems like much of the wildlife is staying undercover. Maybe you’ve had better luck…..we’ll keep looking though! 🙂
